Santa Clarita residents are invited to enjoy a mimosa while eating and learning about fresh, local foods at a brunch on May 17, event officials said Thursday.
The inaugural Farm to Table Charity Brunch, sponsored by Princess, Henry Mayo, Whole Foods and Barnes and Noble, takes place Sunday, May 17 at the Valencia Country Club.
“The farm to table movement is about getting back to basics, and eating fresh and organic produce, ” said Joy Burkhard, founder and director of 2020 Mom, a Valencia based non-profit. “The fact that we are interested in promoting health, are just miles away from local farms, and in a giving community, makes this a perfect fit.”
The event includes a brunch centered around organic local farm-fresh fare like composite tomato salad, rosemary infused cottage potatoes, and traditional brunch standbys like free range omelets, and more, according to a news release.
The event also features a boutique style silent auction, which includes a Princess cruise, children’s art, wine tasting overlooking L.A. and more, according to a news release. There will also be guest speakers from Apricot Lane Farms, who have been featured on Oprah’s OWN network, who will discuss the farm to table movement and share their recent adjustment to parenthood.
There will be entertainment provided by Brittany Burton, according to a news release. In attendance will also be two mothers who will share their stories, and presentation of diapers collected through the 2020 Mom diaper drive, to give families in need served by Single Mothers Outreach and the L.A. Baby Buggy.
The event takes place May 17 from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. with a VIP mimosa reception beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Valencia Country Club at 27330 Tourney Road, according to a news release. Tickets are $75 and VIP tickets are $150.
2020 Mom helps mothers and families ease into family-hood through education and policy change around maternal mental health disorders like postpartum depression, according to a news release. For more information about the event and to purchase tickets, please visit the website here.
