Thirty years ago this week, a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal found themselves in the most-talked-about Saturday detention period ever. A title card at the start of “The Breakfast Club” (which came out in January 1985) announces that it takes place on March 24, 1984. So what’s happened to the Fab Five since then?
Emilio Estevez
Now 51, Charlie Sheen’s big brother has been trying to make it as a director since the 1980s, with his most prominent film being 2006’s RFK story, “Bobby.” His 2010 follow-up, “The Way, ” went nowhere, though, and his acting career has dried up. His last role listed on imdb.com is a voiceover for a 2012 cartoon, “Abominable Christmas.” He and his girlfriend, Macedonian model Sonja Magdevski, have a vineyard at their Malibu home where they make Casa Dumetz pinot noir.
Molly Ringwald
Molly’s latest major role was as Shailene Woodley’s mom in the 2008-13 ABC Family series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager, ” for which she also sang the theme song. Last year, she published a “novel in stories, ” “When It Happens to You, ” and released a jazz album, “Except Sometimes, ” on which the last track is a cover of “Don’t You (Forget About Me).” Ringwald, 46, and her second husband, Panio Gianopoulos, have three kids.
Anthony Michael Hall
Everyone’s favorite geek has been working steadily, too, starring in the USA series “The Dead Zone” from 2002 to 2007 — and even landing a bit part in “The Dark Knight.” Lately, he’s been on such TV shows as “Awkward, ” “Psych” and “Warehouse 13.” Hall, 45, who has never married, is also the godfather of Robert Downey Jr.’s son, Indio Falconer Downey.
Ally Sheedy
Has she got that dandruff taken care of yet? We hope so, because kids can be merciless and Sheedy is teaching high-schoolers at the La Guardia High School for the Performing Arts. She says she helps young actors work on their audition tapes. Among her students is Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes. Divorced from actor David Lansbury since 2008, she hasn’t acted much lately, though Sheedy, 51, has popped up in a few independent movies (such as Todd Solondz’s “Life During Wartime”) and the TV series “Psych” and “Kyle XY.”
